University of Exeter´s Camborne School of Mines (CSM)

The University of Exeter´s Camborne School of Mines (CSM) brings together geology, mining engineering, minerals processing, environmental and social research and teaching. Analytical facilities include two QEMSCAN® automated mineralogical analysis systems as well as a host of complementary techniques, maintained and operated by technical staff with up to 15 years’ experience.

CSM will contribute mineralogical and geochemical expertise to WP4 (Prospect scale testing). It will also lead WP6 (Assessment and best practice in environmental, social and safety impacts for GREENPEG inventions). In particular it will carry out Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to compare the exploration tools as they are developed and also predict the environmental impacts of future mining projects, with mitigation advice to help gain public acceptance.
