Wolfsberg, Austria

The Wolfsberg underground mine project is located in Carinthia, Austria and is one of the biggest occurrences of Li-pegmatites in the Eastern Alps. The GREENPEG demonstration site exhibits an LCT pegmatite dyke with the economic commodities are Li, Fs,HPS, (Ta, Cs). There are indicated resources of 6.3 million tonnes at 1.17% Li2O with white spodumene as the lithium bearing mineral. The dyke is one out of 14 known pegmatite bodies hosted by amphibolites and mica schists.

The challenges with the aim of GREENPEG exploration toolset are given by a dense forest cover and an extreme mountainous topography. As of 2019 European Lithium Ltd. holds exploration permits from the Mining Authority in Leoben for 54 exploration fields, mining permits for 11 mining fields, as well as from 2016 -2020 for several underground and surface exploration and drilling programs.
